Thank you for helping Delaware’s spellers shine!

On March 8, Delaware’s top young spellers took the stage—and thanks to YOU, it was a moment they’ll never forget. Because of your support, we didn’t just hold a Spelling Bee, we created a high-caliber event that set a new standard for Delaware's Spelling Bee that proudly showcased the potential of Delaware students and focused attention on the importance of literacy.

Over 50 students from across the state competed in front of judges, elected officials, educators, families, and community leaders, all coming together to celebrate learning and perseverance. Check out the pictures from the event and a news clip featuring a video of the winning word. Click below for additional news coverage!

Here's the information on the first, second and third place winners

  • First Place: Siara Husain, the Islamic Academy of Delaware in Ogletown

  • Second Place: Aurelia Tran. Talley Middle School in Brandywine Hundred

  • Third Place:  Kshirja Chauhan,  Caravel Academy Middle School in Glasgow

On Saturday, everyone present became part of Team Delaware. When Siara steps into the spotlight in Washington, D.C., for the national competition, the Spellers who competed on March 8, competition will be cheering her on - knowing that she represents the efforts of all the hardworking, high-achieving students of this state. We are hopeful that the success of the 2025 Spelling Bee will lead to even more engagement next year.  This event is designed to inspire educators, students, and families to reach for what’s possible, proving that literacy matters, and showing that Delaware has the potential to become first in the nation in education.

You made it possible for us to celebrate the dedication, potential, and passion for learning that each of our young spellers brought to the stage. Every competitor is an academic leader, proving that Delaware students belong on the national stage. Your support sends a clear message: you believe in student success, you value literacy, and you stand with those working to improve education in Delaware.

Because of you, we didn’t just hold a Spelling Bee; we've launched something bigger.
