Be Part of the Conversation
Every month, First State Educate hosts open meetings on the issues that matter most for Delaware schools — from student achievement to board accountability. These sessions bring together board members, parents, educators, and community leaders for practical discussion and real solutions.
Board Matters: Delaware Conversations is a monthly forum where Delawareans come together to talk about the issues shaping our public schools. Each session takes on a timely topic — from student achievement and attendance to funding, transparency, and family engagement — and brings voices from across the state into one conversation. By connecting data, lived experience, and board leadership, the series helps our community understand what’s at stake and how we can act together to improve outcomes for every child.
Board Matters: January 2026
Delaware needs community members who care deeply about their schools and are curious about stepping into leadership. If you’ve ever wondered what it really takes to run for school board, this conversation is for you.
On January 15, 2026, join us for a step-by-step guide to filing and running for school board. This conversation will walk through what it actually takes to become a candidate, from paperwork and deadlines to preparing yourself for the campaign ahead.
You’ll hear directly from guest speakers who have filed and run for school board, as they share real experiences, lessons learned, and honest insights from the field. There will be plenty of time to ask questions, connect with others considering a run, and have an open conversation about what to expect.
This session is part of our 2026 candidate preparation series and a great opportunity to get informed, build confidence, and explore whether serving on a school board is the right next step for you and your community.

Our scholarships provide board members with advanced training and opportunities to mentor others, ensuring that Delaware benefits from strong, informed, and representative leadership. Together, these programs build the skills and examples needed to deliver better outcomes for students statewide.
