Interested but not sure you’re qualified?

You just need to be honest and fair. A school board member must be transparent, listen to the public and engage with all interested parties.

LEGAL QUALIFICATIONS TO BE A CANDIDATE

Must be a citizen of the United States and Delaware and live in the school district

Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the election 

Must live in the nominating district for which you are a candidate  

Cannot be a paid employee of the district subject to rules & regulations of the board

Must complete a Department of Elections background check each time you file

Must go through a child protection registry check 

2024 filing deadline has ended. Begin preparations for 2025.

Until adult behaviors change, student outcomes won’t.
